Financials and Insurance
From Residential Inpatient to Wilderness Programming, Colorado Recovery offers integrated and unique treatment opportunities.
Colorado Recovery is a private pay program by design. We believe in providing clinically-indicated levels of care, specialized to each individual’s recovery trajectory. We have found that insurance companies’ generic formulas simply fail to account for the highly complex and nuanced recovery process for individuals with a serious mental health disorder diagnosis.
Our choice to remain out-of-network allows us to offer our clients a unique and research-indicated constellation of programs and services designed specifically for those with psychotic disorders, at a personal and individual level.
We do assist families in getting as much insurance reimbursement as possible for those eligible services as defined by their policy, though this amount is entirely at the insurance company’s discretion. If you have out-of-network insurance benefits for some of the services we offer, we will provide free assistance in reviewing your benefits, requesting pre-authorization for potential reimbursement for costs, and we will appeal any denials.
Please contact our Intake Coordinator at 720-218-4068 or email us at info@coloradorecovery.com to discuss your or your family member’s individual situation, and we will assist you in determining approximate costs.
Acute Residential Care: Our residential treatment facility, Balsam House, is nestled into a central neighborhood in the heart of Boulder, Colorado. We provide comprehensive 24-hour support and a full range of on-site psychiatric services in the warmth and comfort of an unlocked, home style setting.
Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment: A two night, three day stay for those interested in completing comprehensive psychiatric assessment to determine an appropriate clinical level of care. This assessment includes participation in daily Balsam House activities, a session with client and family, and a completed written summary of findings and treatment recommendations within 2 weeks. If the treatment team deems further acute-level care is necessary, we will coordinate with client and family for safest next steps.
Transitional-living: Available for clients who are progressing from residential care to independent living. We provide room and board in a safe, healthy, and comfortable living environment in 3-bedroom townhouses in Boulder; oversight by live-in aides; community organizers who help the residents plan activities; group shopping, cooking and dining and opportunities to learn household management skills.
Intensive Outpatient Care: offered to clients who will benefit from more intensive services, such as those who may be at risk of relapse. Our 7-day-a-week intensive services include: frequent contact with the psychiatrist and therapist, daily medication monitoring, individual and group therapy, vocational and social rehabilitation through our psychosocial clubhouse and ongoing treatment planning involving the full outpatient team. A breakfast and daily planning group are provided every weekday.
Support and Outreach: A less intensive program of individualized outpatient treatment for clients who may require less support to maintain stability. The services include all those offered under intensive outpatient care, but for up to 3 days a week rather than 7 days. A breakfast and daily planning group are provided every weekday.
Care Plus: Our standard outpatient care, with the provision of additional services that offer a safety net and support for the client. These features include: crisis services with home visits when needed; access to activities at our psychosocial clubhouse and Balsam House; treatment team appointments; additional nursing services; referrals for physical health care; daily activity planning and breakfast group with clients; communication with family, other providers, attorneys, etc; and other services.
Bridge to You: Our new Mental Health Outreach team! We meet clients where they are, both clinically and physically. Our assertive outreach program, available to the Boulder area, can be customized to meet the unique needs of someone with a mental health diagnosis. Our clinicians provide top-quality treatment where clients are feeling the safest, whether that is in-home, in the community, or with the support of an assisted living setting.
Our fees for Residential and Intensive Outpatient treatment, and Support and Outreach always include psychiatrists’ charges, as well as all other services. Additional fees apply for laboratory tests, medications, and any non-psychiatric medical evaluation and treatment. Our “bundled” service charges offer a substantial savings over the standard costs of “per contact” rates. Contact with the psychiatrist who is leading the treatment team is frequent, and is included in the overall fee for the package of services.
We bill clients or families in advance each month for all residential and intensive outpatient treatment, except standard outpatient care which is billed at the end of the month. We provide detailed invoices and completed insurance forms to assist the client or family in obtaining reimbursement from their health insurance plan.
